Q. What is Neuro-linguistic
Programming (NLP)?
As well as NLP being an extraordinarily powerful set of skills and techniques for achieving human excellence in both personal and business development, NLP is also a philosophy and attitude that is imperative for anyone whose objective is excellence.
Neuro - relates to the nervous system and how we use our five senses, sight, sound,
feeling, taste and smell (known in NLP as:
visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, gustatory and olfactory) to translate
experiences into thought processes at both the conscious and the unconscious
levels.
Linguistic - how we use language to
interpret experiences and in NLP how we communicate those experiences both to
ourselves and to others.
Programming - how we 'encode' and utilise
our experiences in the nervous system and the sequence in which we do so to
achieve a specific outcome.
NLP can be described as how we learn to understand and in particular how we utilise human communications, behaviours and experiences to achieve specific outcomes. NLP provides us with the ability to dramatically increase our awareness and significantly heighten our understanding of the nervous system as well as discovering how to take control of it to achieve our absolute supreme potential.
NLP was created by John Grinder (a linguist) and Richard Bandler (a computer programmer and mathematician) in the 1970's when they asked themselves this question:
"What is the
difference that makes the difference
between someone who excels at a skill and
someone with basic competence?"
This was the question that led to the initiation of their pioneering work into the structure of human excellence that is now know as NLP. John Grinder and Richard Bandler studied and modelled the physiology, language structures, and psychological processes of extraordinary therapists Fritz Perls (Gestalt therapy), Virginia Satir (Family therapy) and Dr. Milton Erickson (world-renowned psychotherapist and hypnotherapist). The NLP models were carefully selected as they consistently produced exceptional results. These NLP models of excellence provided John Grinder and Richard Bandler with the foundation of the patterns of excellence that are now be taught explicitly in the OPAL Rapid NLP Practitioner Certification© training.

Q. How can I become a Certified NLP Practitioner© in just 7 days?
- Your OPAL NLP pre-study pack provides you with what you need before attending the course.
- The OPAL NLP pre-study takes a maximum of 50 hours, which you can choose to do at your own convenience.
- Your pre-study pack contains specially recorded audio CDs that give you a great deal of the theoretical content of the OPAL Rapid NLP Practitioner Certification course.
- Your pack also contains your manual that will assist with your pre-study and will be used during the course for practical exercises.
- You also receive a book in your pack for use as a reference tool. If there is an area that you would like additional information on, refer to the relevant section in the book.
- You are sent a test paper with you pack which you can complete as you listen to the CDs and refer to the manual and book. Any questions you are unable to answer from the Home Study Pack you will be coached on throughout the course.
- When you attend the course, your trainer, Michelle Rhodes, will cover each segment of the course content in an easy to follow format and give a live demonstration of the NLP application techniques where appropriate (there are plenty!). You will then have the opportunity to do an exercise for each application technique which is followed by an open questions and answers session to ensure you understand and are confident in each application technique.
